Creating The Right Fitness Regimen For You

When you first start working out, it may feel overwhelming to figure out which elements make the best fitness regimen for you. Even as you continue working out, you may feel unsure about when to add various elements or how to continue to challenge yourself. A good rule is to start small and then build up. You definitely want to challenge yourself, but not so much that you may injure yourself or risk losing motivation to continue on.

It is crucial to focus on a well-rounded fitness regimen that incorporates cardio and strength training, because you truly need both. You want to shed fat but also build muscle tone. You want to be sure that you incorporate variety so that you keep your body guessing, for that is when the results will start to show. You may want to incorporate some group classes like kickboxing or spin, some cardio like running on the treadmill, and a good well-rounded strength training routine that requires all the muscles to get involved.

You Can Always Build Up and Add Onto Your Progress

You want to start out small with resistance and then work your way up. Lifting weights that are too heavy for you may backfire and cause injury. Start slowly and once the movements feel too easy, then move up and continue to add resistance and weight. The same goes for cardio—you may need to start power walking before you run, or even add an incline as you get used to the routine.

It can be really helpful to talk to a personal trainer or trusted friend or family member to create your fitness goals. Once you know what you are working towards, you can set up a routine that helps you to move towards your goals and change your body in the most effective way possible.

Though you may feel frustrated at first because something seems too hard for you, if you are dedicated and committed to your routine you will continue to meet goals and create new ones. Everyone has a different routine and different approach, so find what works for you and keep it interesting, fun, and build on your progress to keep the momentum going.
