As you get started with your workout protocol and diet plan, it’s important that you have some good goals in place. These are going to help to ensure that you move forward as you had hoped and also serve to keep you motivated every step of the way.
Sadly, many people breeze right by the goal setting process and therefore don’t have this element working in their favour.

First, make your goals as specific as possible. The more specific they are, the easier it will be to know when you are getting close to reaching them and the more clear the picture of success will be in your mind.
Next, you want them to be measurable as well. The good news is that if they are specific, chances are they are measurable too! If they are measurable, this helps you identify how far you’ve come and how far you have to go – which can be motivation in itself.
It’s also going to be crucial that your goals are attainable. This is a big one because some people do set unattainable goals. For instance, if you’re 5’10”, chances are you are not getting down to 110 pounds any time soon. It’s just not attainable.
Make sure that your goals are something that you can, in fact, reach.
In addition to that, they also must be realistic. This means that given your resources, you can reach them as well. Some goals may be attainable, but not realistic. Losing 10 pounds in 2 days for example is not realistic even if losing 10 pounds is attainable for you.
Finally, get a timeline in place. This will be important to keep you motivated and pushing onwards. Without that timeline, you may put your workouts and diet off for far too long.
