Creating the Perfect Bath Experience
It’s a ritual that never gets old: immersing yourself in a perfectly drawn bath after a stressful day. This relaxing and therapeutic experience provides deep muscle relaxation while recharging and cleansing your body and soul. Nowadays, with our lifestyles so hectic and busy, it can be difficult finding the time to create a pampering experience. But by creating this important time, you are putting yourself first and giving yourself the gift of unwinding after a long day.
What constitutes a perfect bath experience? Certainly it varies depending on the individual, but for most, taking a few simple steps will make your time alone well worth it.
- Start by turning down the lights. For many of us, our days are filled with bright lights in the office and running from place to place. Turn down the lights and add a few candles to create a nice, soothing glow.
- If you enjoy music, play your favorite, relaxing CD. Others prefer the sounds of peace and quiet, so whatever works for you, enjoy!
- Aromatherapy is used to renew and relax. Choose oil or scented bath salts that fits your mood. Try lavender, sandalwood or ylang ylang oil for reducing stress. Tea tree, rosemary and chamomile oil relieve body aches while mint, eucalyptus or citrus oil can provide an invigorating bath experience.
- Throw in some Epsom salts as it not only benefits your achy muscles, but also draws toxins from the body and acts as a sedative for the nervous system. How? Epsom salts are made from the mineral magnesium sulfate. When absorbed through the skin, it literally withdraws the toxins that are inside your body. Epsom salts also serve as a natural exfoliant, so rub over your wet skin for a gentle scrub.
Once your bath is over, make sure that you have set aside a fluffy, clean towel along with your sleepwear. If you are able, crawl into bed and watch a good movie or read that book you have been meaning to finish. You’ll be rewarded with a good night’s sleep and wake up refreshed to face the day.
